Let's talk sweatpants. So I know we have all been wearing sweats for months but I for one am not ready to give my sweats up! I am just so much more comfortable. I don't know about you, but I do know that lately I'm in my sweatpants looking like Miss Trenchbull instead of the over 1 million instagram posts (#sweatpants) of people trying to prove that they look good in sweats. Below you'll find some awesome celebrity sweatpants inspiration as well as a list of what I'm looking at to replace my current pathetic sweats that are old and BEYOND ready to be donated.
Now I get that we can't look perfectly flawless and put together everyday but four kids and homeschooling has me accidentally catching a glimpse in the mirror horrified at what I'm currently willing to wear out of the house. I am not going to fool you into thinking I'm going to actually dress up to go out, but I will attempt to up my sweatpants game ;).
Here are some times these celebrities looked better than you in their sweats....
Looking at this I hear the song "don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me" in my head. While it makes me wish I had the money and time to wear this I would really need to go back to 20-something to feel comfortable wearing it. Also, if I wore this...my kids would for sure be asking why my belly is out.
Something I absolutely love Jennifer Garner for is her sense of NORMAL. Maybe she isn't in real life but she sure looks like it. She bakes and wears sweats in public. Two of my favorite things.
Now, I wish I could pull this one off. I love the idea of a cozy looking jacket/ housecoat. This outfit looks practical and OH sooo comfy.
This sweatsuit is rumored to be over $4000. Now I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but sweat suits with embellishments are an easy win. The look good and you look polished with a nice pair of shoes (white sneakers?).
The take away here? Accessories that POP!
Hmmm... this one I will NEVER quite understand. The tracksuit pants and heels.... While some do it better than others. This one does not do anything for me.
Wether you're hiding a hangover or hiding from photographers, this look seems like a sure thing!
Alright so you've seen what celebrities are wearing... now what chance do we mere mortals have? While these suggestions are going to be a little "obvious" its the executing them that makes the difference.
Buy Better Quality
I have sweats that I have owned shamefully for at least 20 years. Now those ones are my laundry day sweats, however think of this like an investment. Some times it is hard to think about spending good money on sweats but really you might arguably wear them more and for many more years than those trousers you just spend BIG BUCK$ on.
So the brands I'm looking at lately are MATE which according to their website they are 100% Organic cotton, use non toxic dyes and they are made ethically in Los Angeles. Their clothing looks SUPER comfy. I'm also checking out Everlane's Perform legging. The next company thats on my list is Free People. Free People is the original brainchild that sprouted huge names like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie.
Here's an idea of the sweats in my virtual shopping cart! (Each picture will take you to item.)
Look for that X factor that makes YOU HAPPY
Wether it's Eco friendly or ethically sourced, or produced in your home country, you should feel SOMETHING about what you're wearing! Even if all you feel is pride that you found a super steal at the second hand store, make a connection. Its about time we know where our clothing comes from and why we buy what we buy.
Put the "outfit" together
You may never be able to afford $4000 for one outfit, but you can pick some killer accessories or look up some tutorials for your hair. You can wear a fresh pair of white sneakers and look the part. Fashion is ALL ABOUT CONFIDENCE! You can do this ;).
